Website Update

By Katie Earley, Content Manager on March 20, 2012

You know the saying about the cobbler's kids not having shoes? The same can often be said about IT companies and their websites. We've been so preoccupied keeping our clients' websites up-to-date that our own website has been sadly neglected. But we finally managed to carve out some time to take care of our own slice of the web and we're proud to show it to you. Nick Morris, our web designer, designed the new site with some guidance from Senior Partner Bart Bushong. They put a lot of time and thought into creating a website that is both attractive and functional.

The new design began with a new logo. Nick said he wanted to bring it “up to date a bit while still keeping it simple.” With a brighter shade of blue and subtle glow, our emblem now looks fresh and modern. Soon you will see the new look rolling out on all of our materials.

When laying out the home page, Nick wanted to make sure visitors would be able to quickly find the information they need. To do this, he kept the F-pattern in mind, which follows how most people read a web page. Readers' eyes normally track horizontally in two strokes, and then down the left column. This layout acknowledges that most readers won't read every word on the page, but puts the information they most need to see where they are most likely to see it.

The slider is one of our favorite features that Nick designed specifically for our home page . It gives a quick but thorough overview of the services we offer to clients and looks great doing it. The icons and their shadows were inspired by Apple's OS X Lion dock.

One of the key features of the website is emphasizing where clients can go for help. The life saver on the right end of the top bar quickly draws the reader's eyes. While our clients are always encouraged to call us for assistance, they can also log on to the website if that route works better for them. When using our online Helpdesk Support, our technicians can have direct access to your computer, making it easier for them to diagnose and repair your problem.

Below the media box, you can find links to our latest news and blog updates, another place to log on to web support, and information on our Content Management System and our Remote Managed Services, some of the premiere features we offer our clients. Through our CMS you can easily update the content of your website at any time on your own, freeing you from a costly dependency on a web designer. (Although we can certainly make any updates for you if you prefer that!) Our RMS is a great way to save on network support costs and the time devoted to minor IT management tasks. Through our RMS, your scheduled maintenance and security monitoring are all regulated for quick resolution by our staff. Often we can fix the problems that pop up before you even notice that anything was amiss!

It's extremely important for all businesses to maintain an updated website, both to assist their current clients and to help attract new ones. We're excited to have finished our latest remodel and look forward to where this new site will take us. If you think it might be time to improve your website, we're always more than happy to help.
